Dining
Trip price includes three meals
daily
(bar tab excluded). Both on-site restaurants
operate on schedules based on diving activites
so we never have to worry about waiting
around or making a reservation.
The
restaurant has coffee ready each morning
from 6:30 a.m. Breakfast starts at 7 a.m.
Breakfast
includes the usual scrambled eggs with bacon
or hash browns, hot cakes, French toast,
and plenty of fresh fruit. Also included
in the buffet are local favorites such as
"Huevos a la Mexicana", "Huevos
Motuleños", and "Huevos
Rancheros or Burritos". To satisfy
your sweet taste, "Pan Dulce"
is served fresh baked every day.
Lunch
consists of a combination of Mexican, Yucatecan
and native Mayan dishes, giving you the
opportunity to taste the traditional food
from this region.
Dinner
is served from 6:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m.
andtakes on a more continental flavor.
Seafood
comes from the Gulf of Mexico and meat is
brought from the northern states of Chihuahua
and Coahuila. Poultry and pork, introduced
by the Spaniards are now a principal part
of the Mayan diet.
One
one evening of our trip the resort will
host a Mexican Beach Party featuring a delicious
buffet dinner of tacos, quesadillas, sopes,
chilindrinas, codzitos, nachos, guacamole
& salsas and much more is served on
the beach under the stars. We
will end the evening festivities with a
piñata!
Lodging
Trip price includes 7 nights
d/o lodging at Scuba Club Cozumel. Single
rooms available for an upgrade charge (call
for pricing). All rooms have a private terrace
and are air-conditioned. A freshwater swimming
pool is located next to the restaurant.
The resort is private, safe and secluded
from the crowds you'll find downtown, but
is still close enough to walk to town.
Travel
Divers are responsible for travel
to and from Cozumel. Cozumel has an international
airport, fully equipped for both large jets
and private planes. International arrivals
are expected to fill out a Customs Declaration
& a Mexican Tourism Card before the
plane lands. You must first clear the Immigration
Area, where your passport or proof of citizenship
is required. Transfers are not included
in your package. Before you exit the airport
you need to buy a TAXI ticket approximately
$6.50 US per person. Be sure your luggage
has been loaded into the Suburban before
getting in. Remember the taxi number and
keep your taxi receipt. Make sure your luggage
is unloaded at your arrival. The ride is
only 10 minutes. Set aside $20 US per person
in cash to pay when you leave. Travelers
checks and credit cards are not accepted.

WHAT
TO EXPECT IN COZUMEL
Language
of Cozumel: English is widely spoken in Cozumel, but
Spanish is the official language. A small percent still
speak some Mayan on the island.
Currency:
Local currency is Pesos. Travelers checks are accepted everywhere.
Personal I.D. such as a driver's license will be required
for cashing Travelers Checks and payments made with credit
card. Bring plenty of $1 and $5 bills. Do not bring bills
larger than $20. The official rate varies daily. Exchange
hours at the bank are 10 am until 1 pm only on weekdays.
On weekends and after hours you can use the Exchange House
in town. The hotel front desk can exchange small amounts
of money, however their exchange rate is slightly lower.
All exchanges are into pesos.
Cozumel
Climate: The climate in Cozumel is subtropical, so expect
some rain, plenty of tropical breezes (which may require
a light jacket in the evenings) and sunshine.
Average Water Temp: The water temperature averages
77-85 degrees. Although these temperatures sound warm and
cozy, a light to medium wetsuit or skin may be needed.
Island
Time Zone: Cozumel is on the Central time zone.
