How does the Seal Team system work?

Supported by a video, manual and logbook, the PADI Seal Team program is broken into two parts:

Part One teaches kids the basics of diving by completing AquaMissions 1- 5 where they will learn scuba skills like buoyancy control, mask clearing, regulator recovery, etc. After building a solid foundation of scuba skills, kids can move on to Part Two.

Part Two consists of numerous different Specialty AquaMissions. These cool dives teach kids different scuba activities and upon completion of 10 Specialty AquaMissions, a Master Seal Team rating may be applied for. Here's a list of the Specialty AquaMissions (scroll down for more information on each specialty):

Snapshot Specialist
Night Specialist
Creature ID Specialist
Wreck Specialist
Inner Space Specialist
Navigation Specialist
Environmental Specialist
Safety Specialist
Search & Recovery Specialist
Skin Diver Specialist

As you can see, PADI Seals get to sample a wide variety of dives. And the best part of Specialty AquaMissions is they reinforce safe diving skills while the kids are having fun. Get involved today - pool diving at Seven Seas Scuba has never been more adventurous!

Specialty Aquamissions

All Specialty AquaMissions begin with a fun informative briefing prior to starting the dive and some AquaMissions may include interactive PowerPoint Presentations (as noted in the AquaMission descriptions below).

Snapshot Specialist

As you go through the Snapshot AquaMission, you get to try underwater cameras and take pictures of your PADI Seal Team buddies. They also take pictures of you! Hang your dive pictures everywhere so your friends know you're a scuba diver!

Snapshot Skills:

Take pictures underwater

Night Specialist

This is one of the best AquaMissions yet! When overhead pool lights are turned off, the diving environment becomes a completely new experience! In this AquaMission you’ll learn how to use underwater lights and other lighting devices (like glow sticks!). Don’t miss out on the Navigation Specialty because with limited visibility you’ll use your navigation skills in order to locate the underwater dive site set up for you.

Night Skills:

Underwater dive light use

Creature ID Specialist

In the first Creature ID Specialty AquaMission you will learn interesting things (physical attributes, habitat, and other cool facts) about aquatic animals in the Pacific Northwest via an interactive PowerPoint presentation. Once your above-water training is complete, you’ll don your scuba gear, enter the water with underwater Creature ID slates, and begin your search for Pacific Northwest creatures!

Because we have so many incredible aquatic creatures to choose from, we will be able offer a few different Creature ID AquaMissions. You’ll be able to look forward to Pacific Northwest Critters I, Pacific Northwest Critters II, Sharks and Rays, and others as requested.

Creature ID Skills:

Identify aquatic creatures
Collect and record Creature ID data

Wreck Specialist

In this adventure-filled AquaMission, you will learn about underwater wrecks and what it takes to safely explore one. Once your above-water training is complete, you’ll head to the pool for your dive briefing and don your scuba gear. Then you’ll enter the water with the appropriate wreck gear (reels, tape measure, underwater mapping slates…etc.) with the Instructors and begin your discovery of our very own underwater wreck: the Takiki Tsunami.

Wreck Skills:

Buoyancy control
Measure and map wreck underwater

Inner Space Specialist

In this specialty AquaMission, you will work on perfecting your buoyancy control by fine tuning your hovering. You’ll do this by diving through an underwater obstacle course and playing games that require you to float while catching or maneuvering underwater objects.

Inner Space Skills:

Fin pivot
Hover

Navigation Specialist

It's always good to know where you're going. In the Navigation AquaMission you will learn how to use a compass and measure distance underwater. You’ll put these skills to use when following a specific course set for you by your Instructor, where you’ll record on your underwater data slate the various objects you come across at specific spots during your dive.

Navigation Skills:

Underwater compass use
Measure distance by counting kick strokes

Environmental Specialist

In this AquaMission you will play the role of a scientist and practice how to search for and uncover the evil secrets of pollution. Knowing these skills will help you protect the environment above and below the water.

Environmental Skills:

Swim feet high, head low search position
Underwater clean-up using a search pattern

Safety Specialist

Good divers always know what to do if a problem comes up while diving. In this fun - yet important - AquaMission, you'll learn how to help your fellow divers if they get in trouble.

Safety Skills:

Predive safety check (BCD, weights, releases, air, final OK)
Cramp removal, self and buddy
Throw a rescue line or float
Surface buoyancy, self and buddy
Rescue tow

Search & Recovery Specialist

Having the skills to find lost items underwater is important to a PADI Seal. In the Search and Recovery AquaMission, you'll learn how to search for lost items and bring them to the surface.

Search & Recovery Skills:

Search for a lost item on pool bottom
Remove object from pool bottom using lift bag

Skin Diver Specialist

Although you'll be spending most of your time underwater as a PADI Seal, good snorkeling skills always come in handy.

Skin Diver Skills:

Snorkel equipment adjustment
Snorkel swim on surface (no hands)
Blast clear snorkel
Remove water from mask
Control direction while swimming
