Open
Water is the first level of full diver certification
where you are certified to dive down to 60' without a professional
(Please note there are some minimum age requirements
and subsequent depth and buddy restrictions associated therewith.
Please contact us for additional information).
You are also eligible to rent scuba gear and tanks,
as well as have scuba tanks filled. This is the most popular
level of scuba certifications.

Students are required to provide their own mask, snorkel,
fins, boots & weight belt or harness (no weights) for
the open water weekend (student discounts honored). Students
have the opportunity to try out equipment during pool sessions.
To
receive the PADI Open Water certification, students will
need to:
- read
Chapters 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5 in the Open Water Book
or on the CD-Rom
watch the Open Water DVD or video segments on the
CD-Rom
- complete
the corresponding Knowledge Reviews for Chapters
1, 2, 3, 4 & 5
- achieve
a passing grade on corresponding
Quizzes 1, 2, 3, 4 & the Final Exam
(minimum 75%)
- attend
all scheduled class/pool sessions (sessions,
called a Modules, correspond with Chapters)
- complete
Open Water Dives 1, 2, 3 & 4 (minimum two days
of diving typically conducted on the first weekend
following the last class/pool session)
with me and adequately performing all required skills

Proof
of the PADI Scuba Diver certification will take the place
of Modules 1, 2 & 3, and Open Water Dives 1 & 2.
If you have decided to advance from Scuba Diver to Open
Water certification, for your benefit and at our discretion,
we may choose to conduct a mini-refresher pool course to
review the skills from Modules 1, 2 & 3 at no additional
charge.
