The Master Scuba Diver certification is the highest level of certification possible in recreational diving. This certification represents at a minimum your mastery of training and your experience in a variety of diving situations and environments.

An important part of the Master Scuba Diver certification is experience in specialty diving areas. To assist divers in their goal of becoming a Master Scuba Diver, we consistenly scheduled a variety of specialty courses including featuring a Specialty of the Month each month. Also in connection with our Master Scuba Diver program, divers seeking the certification will be invited to special Tides & Currents presentations, dive planning seminars, and more. Call or stop by to meet with one of our MSDT, IDC Staff, or Master instructors to start your program today!

To obtain such a dive rating, you must achieve the requirements listed below and show proof of each to a Master Scuba Diver Trainer (MSDT) or higher instructor (i.e. IDC Staff instructor, Master Instructor, or Course Director).

PADI Open Water Diver certification (or qualifying certification from another organization)
PADI Advanced Open Water Diver certification (or qualifying certification from another organization)
PADI Rescue Diver certification (or qualifying certification from another organization)

* These courses are specially taught by guest instructor Janna Nichols. They are not eligible as the free specialty. Janna has risen to the top of her field teaching these specialties. Janna co-wrote the PNW Invertebrated ID course with REEF and is currently the only instructor in the world teaching this distinctive specialty. This specialty is truly one-of-a-kind!
