Advanced
Open Water (aka Adventures in Diving) is the next
full level of diver certification where you are certified
to dive down to 100' without a professional (Please
note there are some minimum age requirements and subsequent
depth and buddy restrictions associated therewith.

There are
no pool sessions required for AOW allowing the class to
be conducted over the course of a weekend.
Materials
required for the class are:
- Your
own gear
or please arrange for your
own rental; you
will need 2 tanks.
- An
underwater compass
- An
underwater light
- A
knife or sea snips
- Underwater
dive slates are
not required, but are very useful. If you
chose to do FISH ID or Underwater Naturalist for
one or both of your elective dives, it is possible
that we can make dive slates available to you for
the dives. Please check with one of us in
advance.
- Your

To
receive the Advanced Open Water certification, students
will need to:
- read
Chapters corresponding to pre-discussed set* and
elective dives in the Adventures in Diving Book
or on the CD-Rom
- complete
the corresponding Knowledge Reviews for the Chapters
corresponding to pre-discussed set and elected dives
in the Adventures in Diving Book or on the CD-Rom
- Attend
one class session prior to the certification weekend
- complete
two elective adventure dives in addition to the
Navigation, Night, and Deep dives (minimum two days
of diving) with me and adequately performing all
required skills

Within dive site limitations, you will be able to choose
two elective dives in addition to the Navigation, Night
and Deep dives.
PADI
Adventure Dives may count toward your Advanced Open Water
